To Do List-Obsessed

I’m obsessed with To Do lists. I don’t just make them; I make them constantly. And then, I stare at my list for a small eternity to admire my handwriting and how pretty my purple pen makes every letter look. This is a very dumb thing to do because the longer I stare at my list, the more overwhelmed I get by everything I need to accomplish. Ultimately, I end up googling diamond earrings for women, plotting an alternative ending to Gone With the Wind, and not finishing anything on my To Do list at all!

What makes all this writing down on notebooks business even dumber is that I learned a long time ago I can make do without pen and paper, thus saving money, (on) space, and the environment in one go. I have apps on my laptop that let me scrawl out these lists. There’s the Cloud Note, the Ink note, the Large Note, the Longer Note, and the Mini Enote. But the Whiny Lola part of my brain is rolls its eyes and sighs dramatically at the idea of no longer writing on paper.

“Writing on paper is different,” my mental lola points out, and I nod my head in agreement.

Yes, it’s different. A good kind of different. After all, you can’t whip out your laptop to write about the color of clouds, as you go about your daily walk. Neither can you spontaneously pencil in a reminder to get new underwear or check your EON balance. So there, I shall probably keep on making To Do lists the good old-fashioned way until I’m 90, rheumy, and incapable of writing. And yep, you guessed right—as I type out this entry, I am also scribbling a new To Do list on a notebook. I persist with the oldie but goodie like that, yo!
