Iron Love
Author: ChinI hate doing house chores but ironing is always therapeutic for me. I’m not sure why I love to iron – perhaps it has something to do with being able to take something wrinkled and messy and making it neat and flat.
When I was younger, my siblings and I divided chores. I always volunteered to do the dishes and the ironing. I find joy in holding the iron and laying it next to a piece of fabric. It’s one of those tasks where I can be productive in more ways than one. I do a task while I daydream. I usually think about when the clothes were last worn or how I felt wearing it, if the clothing is mine.
It’s funny that I only thought of this now but clothes really are a lot like time capsules. They gather stories along the way.
Hi! My name is Chin, and this is where, to quote Jane Austen, I "run mad and as often as I choose."

You are strange, woman! I can’t iron to save my life. I can, however, wash dishes and cook pork chops really well.

Ironing is one of those things I never really learned to do. I can do the dishes and hand-wash laundry. I can’t,despite trying, do the ironing quite right, even if it takes me the entire day doing and redoing a piece of clothing.
