The Fastest Shoppers in the ‘Hood

Have I told you I don’t like leaving the house much? Okay, great, I just told you. I don’t like leaving the house much. The outside world gives me a headache. It frightens me, it worries me, above all, it gives me allergies. So no, I don’t like leaving the house much but every now and then, I have to.

Today, for instance, I had to. The 5-year-old needs a three-sisters skirt for a school program. I could, of course, leave Wett to do the choosing but he’s very nitpicky and Alex is very opinionated. Between what he wants and what she wants, it might take them til closing time to agree which skirt to choose. So, we went to the mall together, looked around for a bit, had Alex try on the second skirt I saw, asked for a smaller size, paid, and voila! We were done, and in record time, too! We spent a total of 10 minutes shopping, inclusive of getting the skirt rung up.

I’m not sure why I dislike malls so much. Maybe it’s because half of Cebu seem to be there at the same time we are. Or maybe it’s because I need the temptation to shop about as much as I need rv towing: I walk around half-convinced I need a quarter of everything that I see.

Here are some of the photos the husband took.

Our First Mother-Daughter Photoshoot

May 6, 2009 - 5:56 am 4 Comments

Today, the family trooped to SM at 10am for a photoshoot. Who goes to SM at 10am? You’d be surprised; tons of people do.

Normally, you’d have to bribe me to go to the mall that early because not only do I hate crowds, I don’t do mornings that start at 10am. Moreover, I’ve the descriptions from Iris to finish. But who says no to Kara? Besides, this is my first mother-daughter photoshoot ever. Aside from the excitement factor (it’s a new experience, people!), I couldn’t bear to disappoint the daughter. She couldn’t wait to go!

Seafarers.

March 2, 2009 - 10:35 am 2 Comments

These days, we seem to be always at sea. Alex is a joy to travel with. She never whines, throws tantrums, cries, or gets cranky from having to warm her seat for hours.

The last time we rode a slow vessel to Tubigon, she had a grand time making up stories about the islands and flotsam we passed by.

Perhaps it’s time we get this little girl her passport. She’s now old enough, methinks, to start seeing just how vast the world is. If there’s one thing I wish my little girls would have, aside from intelligence, kindness, courage, and charm (I don’t ask for a whole lot, do I? hahaha), it’s love for adventure, humankind, and travel.

Have Mouth, Will Eat

February 24, 2009 - 1:52 am Comments Off

My metabolism has gone bad. Then again, perhaps it’s always been mad. Back in the day, I can’t seem to pack on pounds no matter how voraciously I eat. Then, after giving birth to Alex, all I had to do to get fat was think of food. Today, my metabolism has made another dramatic turn-around. I eat all the time but can’t gain a thing.

So now, I’m thinking, considering I’m always hungry and quite picky with food to boot, perhaps I should learn to cook. Signing up for technical schools and courses in Texas online should do my crazy metabolism a world of good. If I can make what I want to eat, I could save tons of money, yes? Yes, not to mention save the husband a world of grief. Hahaha.
