It’s that time of the year again when days are long and humid. And the heat – oh, the heat! How do I even begin to describe it?
One day, the hub and I worked in the patio from 1pm to 5pm. By the time we called it a day, I’d turned into a two-toned human being. My left arm and leg were all red and sunburnt but everywhere else, I was pale and freckled. We laughed over the contrast but later that night, the burns began to sting and I realized, heck, not only is this painful, I wouldn’t be able to wear tube dresses for a while! Two-toned jewelry is chic; two-toned humans are just weird.
Still, being two-toned is the least of my skin problems. It’s not just the fact that I’m over-baked on one side and under-baked on the other. It’s the fact that my face feels coarse as leather. I’ve pores the size of manholes! If I’ve the money for it, I’d pay for microdermabrasion. I’d heard it buffs away dry, damaged skin and leaves one with skin softer than a baby’s. But I don’t so I guess I’ll just have to live with my face for now – wrinkles, crow’s feet, freckles, huge pores, and all.
