Contemplating Evil

Author: Chin

If there’s one thing the hub and I could use help with, it’s learning to say no. Right now, we have this huge headache named J, and she just wouldn’t go away! The husband’s former high school classmate J is insisting we need cheap life insurance, and she happens to be selling plans she thinks we could use. If we had any sense at all, we should have just shut the door in her face. But Wett being Wett and Chin being Chin, we were too nice to say no. So, we agreed to listen to whatever it is she’s pitching. That was huge mistake no. 1.

Several mistakes after, we now find ourselves saddled with a woman who just won’t stop calling. It irks me, it irks Wett, and it irks the yayas who answer the phone every time. I told Wett to tell her no already, and he did. Unfortunately, she thinks she’s invested too much of her time pitching what she sells to us. She thinks she shouldn’t stop now. WTF, right?

Now, I’m the nicest girl in the world when it comes to salespeople. I don’t know where I got this tolerance from, but I have it. I can listen to the most persistent salesperson for hours and not lose my ability to smile. J is pushing me to untoward heights of evil, though. One of these days, I’ll invite her to the house and scare her with the dogs, I really will. We have 9 dogs hereabouts, all of them Dobermans and ready to pounce on new faces.

Fixture Fixating

I like lamps. I like the way they light up rooms subtly. I like how they take square living space from drab to inviting. If I have tons of money to play with, I’d get us Dolan Designs lamps.

This one will go in the dining room.

And, these will be for the hallway.

Don’t these lamps look pretty? The husband thinks there’s something freaky with how obsessed I am over lighting. I don’t just collect lamps; I collect candles, too. However, I do not collect Dolans. I can’t even if I want to because these babies, while pretty, are far too pricey to be part of the usual knick-knacks I surround myself. But I can sigh over them here, can’t I? Annnnd that is precisely what I will do today, trawl online showrooms and sigh over pretty little things, and hope to God I don’t talk myself into whipping out the credit card and banging it up real good.
